Artichoke Reverie

Kashmir I thought of you

while walking in Bombay

But that was in a dream too

Where, then, am I?

This morning, unexpectedly

A friend wrote to me

Of artichokes dipped in butter

That he had eaten in Srinagar

That tasted like a dream

How do I tell him

That Srinagar itself

Is the stuff of dreams now

And that

You cannot revisit a dream, at will
