Saswati Saha

Saswati Saha teaches English at Sikkim University. Her research and writing explore translation, travel writing, postcolonial literature, indigenous studies, and the histories of reading and books. She received her PhD in Cultural Studies from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta, where she studied Bengali engagements with English literary travelogues through the lenses of translation, social reform, and cultural exchange. She has held research fellowships at Queen's University Belfast, the British Library through the Charles Wallace India Trust, and the British Centre for Literary Translation at the University of East Anglia. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Comparative Literature Association of India and on the Steering Committee of the Translation Committee of the International Comparative Literature Association. Her current work focuses on translation across languages and cultures, Indigenous narratives from the Eastern Himalayas, and the many ways stories travel across borders.
