From buried yearnings, bodies rise on rainbow sails to glorious, prideful skies.

December 17, 2023

1969³

over centuries, weathered lifetimes,
over fallen fronds and curled spines
yearnings and dreams
interlocked behind stone walls, deep waters
flicker under moonlit nights,
combing spaces to breathe, to bloom
and cut through silence with syllables of love
on lips. How fretful it is to be unfree, submerged
then to want to rise on stilts in the swell of storms
to reclaim, beyond anger, our bodies
and grab the sails of a rainbow
forever
an uprising 2023…

in the slant rays of the morning sun
vivid rainbows span the horizon in the breeze
plant a soft kiss on palms
and the waves of change
disperse the seven colors, slice by slice
a legacy, beyond festive rallies,
hailing the divine song
drenched, mapping the distances overcome
in rightful pride
and bury the bruises in shadows
of glorious skies,
forever
up, rising.
